Meet Azra: A multi- talented sports athlete who wants to start her academy to help womenfolk | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNO): A girl from Srinagar who has showcased her talent in different sports fields want to open her academy in Srinagar to help local womenfolk. Azra, a resident of Nowhatta area of Srinagar who is pursuing her masters in physical education from the University of Kashmir has won several medals while participating in different sports at the national level. While talking with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Azra said she was passionate about sports since her childhood and loves to play different games. She has already proved her mettle in Cricket and Badminton while playing at the national level and is inspiring dozens of girls to take part in sports. "So, far I have played cricket, badminton, rugby, martial arts and athletics besides NCC certificate holder," she said, adding that she wants to represent J&K at mega stages and participate at the international level. Azra has participated thrice in All India Inter-University Badminton Championship, national Rajiv Gandhi All India Championship, national-level badminton tournaments in a year 2016 and 2017, and represented J&K in U-19 cricket in the year 2012. "I have got silver medal in judo and cricket. Bronze in skiing besides other medals, she said. "I want to learn more and showcase my talent at bigger platforms." "I am about to start a cricket and badminton academy in my area to help the young ones besides a fitness centre to help young girls to reduce obesity and wants the government support in this regard," she said. "At present I am providing badminton coaching to dozens of girls in my area without charging them a single penny so to help them in nourishing their talent and guide them to make their career in the sports field," Azra said. Azra said that the youth of J&K are very much talented but the government must support them by enhancing sports infrastructure so that it can help interested youth to achieve their dreams—(KNO)
